The Book of Zephaniah

As we continue our trek through The Minor Prophets. The book of Zephaniah. The arc of this short 3 chapter book begins with announcing judgement - but it ends with God singing over His remnant people. A people that will embrace the theme we’ve been saying throughout this whole series: RETURN, REPENT, and let God RESTORE. Zephaniah is incredibly timely because we live in a culture that seems to either ignore God's judgment or doubts His goodness. Zephaniah reminds us that both are true simultaneously. God is both perfectly holy and unimaginably loving. The book ends with one of the most comforting images of God’s character you'll see in the entire Old Testament. This book calls us to root out our syncretism and complacency - to maintain a wholehearted active devotion to God alone. And to be part of God's remnant with humble hearts that receives the delight and gift of grace God grants to his chosen.
