John 5 presents the story of Jesus engaging a man at the pool of Bethesda. He performs another sign of healing on the Sabbath, which enrages the Jewish leaders of the time. In this story we see a Savior who takes the initiative to provide healing for a paralyzed man, as well as one who wants to heal the religious leaders’ broken understanding of how they relate to God.
