In the last few decades, researchers have discovered the importance of having healthy, joyful attachments from early childhood. These attachments to others define our identity — who it is we want to be — as well as emotional attunement and regulation. Understanding the Hebrew word, Hesed, is a powerful reminder that God has always known what we are just beginning to understand. As we come to not just understand, but truly experience God’s hesed, displayed in Jesus, we can form the most joyful attachment available to us as we unite ourselves to Christ.
