Book of Joel

We continue our series on The Minor Prophets with the book of Joel. The book begins in the wake of devastation and crisis. And Joel is using these circumstances to call people back to a dependency upon God. It's often from within the pain we experience that God is calling to us and inviting us to experience Him anew. Calamity will come for us. Sometimes God uses pain to get our attention and to call us back to Him. The central message of Joel is: "The pathway from devastation to restoration begins with a wholehearted return to God." In our day God can still bring about restoration - He is still a merciful and restoring God. One day he will judge fully and fully restore all things. Throughout the book of Joel, we see the familiar refrain of all the Minor Prophets: Return to the Lord and His covenant, repent of your sins, and experience the restoration of the Lord. May we be people of this rhythm in our living.
