The Book of Nahum
Jul 5, 2026
The Book of Nahum is the sequel to Jonah. After heeding the call to repent, the Ninevites are back to their wicked ways less than 100 years later. Nahum, whose name means “consoler”, writes his book as a means of consoling the suffering Israelites by assuring the people that God sees their suffering, He knows those who take refuge in Him, and He will justly bring about the destruction of Nineveh as punishment for all the evil done by their hands. From this book we see how history becomes the context in which God reveals His character.
